PAY RATE:  $19.01 - $20.02 PER HOUR

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Community Relations Specialist works within the community to locate and develop relationships with community organizations that may be resources to assist the Program address the crisis of homelessness in the area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains relationships with community agencies, faith-based groups, healthcare providers, volunteers, etc.
  • Maintains required records, reports and statistics for administrative purposes
  • Conduct regular meetings with volunteers and partners groups
  • Works with Program Manager to implement new projects and produces
  • Create, edit and deliver accurate and polished digital content and information to support external communications across VOALA digital platforms
  • Serves as an advocate for the organization in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
  • Facilitate and/or attend group collaborative meetings and training as needed or required.
  • Ensure all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs community outreach in order to develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies, faith-based groups, healthcare providers, volunteers, etc,
  • Solicit, edit, create, and publish accurate content across social media platforms, including VOALA and Program websites
  • Conduct regular meetings with volunteers and partners
  • Advocate for VOALA across social media, providing customer service and policing content
  • Advise Program Manager on community developments
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal technology staff
  • Facilitate and/or attend group collaborative meetings and training
  • Other duties as required and may be subject to change

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (or related discipline) or a combination of relevant education and experience (4 years).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of experience in a social services organization serving the homeless, veterans, or addressing substance abuse
  • Experience working in social media or as digital media specialist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiar with LAHSA file share, HMIS
